look of the day: yellow street chic

My husband and I finalized our plans today for our trip to Chicago next weekend and I couldn't be more
ecstatic. Not only will we be hanging out with friends in one of the coolest cities in the US, we will also be
listening to some of the best music in the world while we are there. Never one for muddy, crunchy, port-a-
potty summer music festivals; this downtown, city scaped, 10pm curfew enforcing ( yes, that means no 13
min. bongo solos) festival was just my style. My mind almost immediately goes from 'who's on what stage' to
'what should i wear' in record timing. This look above is the kind of outfit I would most certainly see a cute girl
wearing as I thought to myself, "shoulda worn that". Yellow has definitely emerged as THE color for summer,
and while we most often see it on tweens in tank tops, I love that she wears it in a retro 60's style tulip skirt.
One that you often skim by while at the thrift stores. Paring this punch of color with an almost unexpected pale
blue top makes the outfit look relaxed, polished, and not one bit contrived. It's almost as if she hasn't done
laundry for weeks, and these are the only too items left in the closet. I love it. Her look is completed with
muted red flats which provide the outfit with the continuity that it never needed in the first place. The overall
look is simple, understated , and totally cool. Above are a few items I found to help you emulate this outfit on
your own.

look of the day: kelly ripa

I am loving this nautical look from Kelly Ripa right now. Intermixing designer and low end pieces she effortlessly completes the look and the end result is chic and wearable. She subtly abandons the once notoriously unbreakable fashion rule of never mixing black and brown with ease by adding an on trend navy top. While not every woman is equipped with Kelly's enviably toned body we can all certainly work with the trend while having fun with this summertime look. Above are some budget savvy alternatives to the high end pricetags that accompany Kelly's downtown look.

hi, how are you

I am extending the proverbial blog hand to you all. I've given in and have finally decided to share my thoughts and ideas on style and life with all three of you. Stick around, the site will inevitably become better and I also encourage drinking while viewing my page. The more you drink, the cooler and funnier I become.
